Living in Yuli, is so much fun! I love the children here and am so grateful God chose me to minister to them.
Let me tell you about my student Judah. . .
When I met Judah I noticed he had what I assumed to be birth defects. He walked with a limp and his head is not shaped normal. He was so very out-going and encouraging to me my whole time at school.
I adore him!!!!
Judah showed me around the school, then took me to the playground. I noticed as I played with him and the other littler children, he was nice and gentle with them. After playing, we had a footrace. By this time I had completely forgotten that he had a limp and I beat him. I only realized after the race that I had won it unfairly because of his limp. But, as I watched for signs of disappointment, I found only joy and excitement in his eyes. I think I may have impressed him with how fast I could run :-).
Judah spent every break with me. Working on English phrases, saying words from his english book and laughing with me when I would try to say a chinese word. Then I ate lunch with him. Between nodding at him and smiling we had a great time.
Later that day, I learned that Judah did not have birth defects but was abused as a baby. It hurts me to even think of what was done to him. This young boy, Judah, one of my sweetest students! was hurt as a helpless baby. But although he was hurt he is still a happy child and so loving. I pray God can use me in a special way to have an impact in his life this year as well as all of my students.
